Test purchases with PayPal

It can be helpful to run some test purchases to make sure everything is working how you want it with your Sunshine install. PayPal has a Sandbox which is an almost exact clone of the live site where you can make test accounts and run test purchases.

PayPal

1. Log in to the PayPal Developer Dashboard with your PayPal account.
2. Under Testing Tools > Sandbox Accounts, make sure you have two test accounts: a Business account (you, the seller) and a Personal account (your client, the buyer). PayPal usually makes one of each for you.
3. Under Apps & Credentials, switch to Sandbox and open (or create) an app. Copy its Client ID and Secret.
4. In your WordPress admin, go to Sunshine > Settings > Payments > PayPal. Set Mode to Sandbox and paste the Sandbox Client ID and Sandbox Secret. Save.
5. Make a test purchase on your site. When the PayPal window opens, log in with the Personal sandbox account's email and password.

When you're done testing, set Mode back to Live.

PayPal (Legacy)

If you use the older PayPal (Legacy) payment method:

1. In the PayPal Developer Dashboard, make the same two sandbox accounts: one Business and one Personal.
2. In Sunshine > Settings > Payments > PayPal (Legacy), set Mode to Sandbox and enter the email of the Business sandbox account.
3. Make a test purchase and pay with the Personal sandbox account.
