Amazon S3 integration for unlimited file storage

The Cloud Storage addon is now the recommended way to offload your gallery images. It supports nine cloud providers (Amazon S3, Bunny.net, Cloudflare R2, Wasabi, Backblaze B2, and more), includes a migration tool, and is built specifically for Sunshine Photo Cart. The instructions below describe the older WP Offload Media method, which still works but is no longer recommended.

Legacy Method: WP Offload Media

Sunshine Photo Cart is compatible with the free plugin WP Offload Media for offloading images to Amazon S3. If you're already using WP Offload Media, it will continue to work — and the Cloud Storage addon can recognize and serve images that were previously offloaded by WP Offload Media.

If you're setting up cloud storage for the first time, use the Cloud Storage addon instead. It supports more providers, handles image privacy with signed URLs, and is tightly integrated with Sunshine's gallery system.

WP Offload Media Setup

1. Install & activate the WP Offload S3 plugin: You can get this plugin for free from the WordPress.org repository.
2. Configure for use with Amazon S3: Follow the quick start guide on how to connect the plugin with Amazon S3.
3. Ensure the Remove Local Media option is enabled

What's the difference between the Cloud Storage addon and WP Offload Media? The Cloud Storage addon is built specifically for Sunshine Photo Cart. WP Offload Media is a general-purpose WordPress plugin that works but doesn't have these Sunshine-specific features.

Does this work with digital downloads? Yes! The Digital Downloads add-on is fully compatible with both the Cloud Storage addon and WP Offload Media.

Can I switch from WP Offload Media to the Cloud Storage addon? Yes. The Cloud Storage addon recognizes images previously offloaded by WP Offload Media and continues serving them from the cloud. Deactivate WP Offload Media before activating the Cloud Storage addon.
